Former Dolphins Pro Bowl WR/KR and college teammate of Patrick Mahomes works out with New York Giants

Jakeem Grant Sr. used to be one of the best return specialists in the NFL.  He is a fascinating guy who was also a former teammate of Patrick Mahomes's at Texas Tech.

Drafted in 2016 by the Dolphins, he played just over five seasons in Miami and became a record-breaker.  He is the first (and only) player in Dolphins history to score receiving, kick return, and punt return touchdowns in the same season in 2018.

Grant has bounced around in recent years, spending time with the Chicago Bears for part of the 2021 season, and he was supposed to be a member of the Cleveland Browns for the past two seasons. He experienced catastrophic season-ending injuries during consecutive preseasons with the Browns in August 2022 and August 2023 to his Achilles and knee, respectively.

Now 31, Grant is healthy, seeking a fresh start, and hoping to make a team's roster to play in his first NFL regular season game in nearly three years. He recently worked out with the New York Giants.

The question on Grant will be if he still has the speed and agility after an injured Achilles and ruptured patellar tendon. Grant has plenty of fans in Miami (and Chicago and Cleveland) who would like to see him get another opportunity to play in the NFL.
