Miami Dolphins shore up a key roster shortcoming with a familiar face

Emmanuel Ogbah is back in South Florida, and on a much, much more team friendly deal.

The veteran defensive end reportedly reached an agreement with the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday morning per multiple sources.  The deal is reported to be for one year and worth up to $5 million.

Ogbah was in South Florida at the Dolphins facility on Monday to work out for the team, who desperately needs pass rushing help after the sudden retirement of OLB Shaq Barrett over the weekend.

Ogbah was with the Dolphins from 2020 through the 2023 season.  He signed a mega-extension of 4 years and $65 million in March 2022 after back-to-back 9 sack seasons for Miami.

However, with the Dolphins facing severe salary cap issues, Ogbah and his $13.7 million number for 2024 was too much for the team to handle, so they released him back on February 23.

Ogbah was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft.  He totaled 12.5 sacks over three years before signing with Kansas City in 2019 and winning a Super Bowl with the Chiefs.

Ogbah wasn't the only edge in town on Monday, as Yannick Ngakoue was also reportedly visiting the Dolphins .  We'll see soon enough if Ogbah will have a new teammate in aqua and orange in the coming days.
