Although Pembroke Pines (Fla.) West Broward wide receiver Joshua Moore committed to the Florida Gators last month, but that has not stopped the Miami Hurricanes from pursuing the four-star pass catcher.

“We’re still talking and building that relationship,” Moore told CaneSport. “At the end of the day, they know I haven’tsigned any papers. I’m committed to the Gators, but this season right here is going to tell it all.”

Canes wide receivers coach Kevin Beard has made it clear that his efforts to recruit Moore, who is the No. 177 overall prospect in the 2025 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking , will not be slowing down anytime soon.

“He keeps saying the job isn’t finished yet,” Moore explained. “He lets me know he’s still going to call me every day and work to get me every day. Me and coach KB have a great relationship and have built it over the last year since he started recruiting me.”

Moore says Beard’s relentless push and not shying away from recruiting him despite his commitment to the Gators are keeping Miami on his radar.

“It makes me feel good,” Moore said. “That’s the attitude you’re supposed to have. You’re not supposed to get into your feelings when I commit somewhere. You already know I haven’t signed any papers yet, so keep going.”

On August 31, the Gators and Hurricanes will open up the 2024 campaign in Gainesville, which will be a matchup the 6-foot-4, 205-pounder will be paying close attention to.

While that won’t be the one defining factor, if the Hurricanes have a strong showing that can improve their positioning with the coveted receiver who is not shutting the door on the Canes just yet. Along with Florida and Miami, Moore says he is also still considering Florida State.

“All I know is that if Florida does their thing, they’ve got me,” Moore explained. “For Miami, they’ve just got to outdo Florida. Outdo them by a lot.”

    CaneSport’s take

Moore has made it clear that if Miami outperforms Florida on the field this upcoming season, things may get interesting come the early signing period in December. With that being said, Aug. 31 will be a pivotal matchup for the Canes and an opportunity to chip away at Moore with hopes of keeping him in South Florida.
