Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese has announced her intentions to play in the Unrivaled Basketball League, which was co-founded by WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier.

The league will be held in Miami, Florida, featuring 30 women's basketball players who will compete across six teams in a 3-on-3 format. It will be held in a 10-week window and will launch in January 2025.

Reese expressed her excitement about the news, tweeting the announcement while adding her new nickname, "305 Barbie."

"305 BARBIEEEEE. SEE YALL IN THE YAMSSSSSSS," Reese said.

Unrivaled has already reported a few WNBA stars who plan on competing in the league, such as Jackie Young, Kahleah Copper, Kelsey Plum, and Jewell Loyd.

The Sky rookie entered an elite group of women's basketball players that are paving a new way for women's athletes to get paid and gain exposure.

"With Unrivaled, we're revolutionizing the game by prioritizing investments in our stars and ensuring their on-court performance is reflected in their pay," Stewart said in May.

The league will be a player-owned organization, with top-level sports figures having already invested in Stewart and Collier's plan.

According to Alexa Philippou at ESPN , Stewart mentioned that the league would have the highest average salary in women's professional sports league history. A couple of the investors include NBA legends Carmelo Anthony and Steve Nash, as well as women's sports icons Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe.

This seems to be a huge opportunity for players to continue their basketball journey while being involved with successful sports figures. Reese joined a lengthy list of established superstars at just 22 years old, which speaks volumes about her impact on the WNBA during her rookie season.

Reese is currently averaging 13.5 points and 11.9 rebounds per game for the 10-14 Sky.

The WNBA is currently on its Olympic break, following the 2024 All-Star game on July 20. Reese helped lead the Team WNBA roster to a 117-109 victory over Team USA, posting 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Chicago's next game will be held on Aug. 15 against the Phoneix Mercury at 8 p.m. ET.
