Miami Dolphins center Aaron Brewer is undersized but that 'doesn't mean I'm weak.'

MIAMI GARDENS - Professional football players tend to sweat out a lot of weight during training camp, especially those who practice in the South Florida sun.

"I'm from Texas," Miami Dolphins center Aaron Brewer said after Friday's training camp practice. "So, I ain't too far from the heat, you know. I'm pretty used to it."

For Brewer, keeping his weight up is a goal and a necessity.

At 295 pounds, none of the other 15 offensive linemen in Miami's camp are lighter.

"Just because I'm undersized doesn't mean I'm weak," said Brewer, who has played center and guard.

Aaron Brewer is athletic and slim: pros and cons?

The Dolphins signed Brewer away from the Titans to start because his athleticism is a great fit for Miami's offense.

"I'm able to get people moving, get into the line of scrimmage, get out in open space and use my skill set," Brewer said.

Brewer should be an excellent weapon in Miami's run game.

But what about those times where he has to anchor against a 320-pound defensive tackle?

"I still have that same strength," Brewer said. "I can play all five across the board. So just trusting in my technique and believing in my skill set and doing what I do."

Miami Dolphins training camp battles at guard

It's uncertain who among Isaiah Wynn, Liam Eichenberg, Jack Driscoll, Robert Jones, Kion Smith, Lester Cotton or Matthew Jones will end up starting at left and right guard.

So there is some time needed to sort out the interior of Miami's offensive line.

"There's a lot of competition," Brewer said. "But it ain't like nobody's trying to put each other down, you know what I'm saying? Like we're still staying one unit. And so like, everybody's gonna' compete, but everybody still has that same mindset. They're trying to get after it."

Brewer believes Miami's offensive line will gel and excel.

"You just want to lead from the front, you know what I'm saying?" Brewer said. "You want to be fast, physical, and just lead the team, like put the team on our back, you know what I'm saying? So you just want to be together, be one unit."
