NBA teams keep an eye on their players representing their national teams to see how well they are performing and give praise when the time calls for it.
The Miami Heat have one player on the Team USA roster, which is Bam Adebayo. He has been a great defensive standout alongside Anthony Davis and Joel Embiid, suffocating opponents in the frontcourt as the U.S. has dominated opponents in group play of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In a 104-83 blowout win against Puerto Rico earlier this Saturday, Adebayo finished with three points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals in 18 minutes of action off the bench.
Following the game, the Heat posted on X (formerly Twitter) to display his stat line. Meant to highlight the big man's performance, it ironically had the opposite effect when Adebayo replied to the account.
It's more humorous when taking into account his 18-point display against South Sudan this past week. In group play, Adebayo is averaging 8.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, two assists, and a steal per game off the bench.
Team USA has been excellent on the defensive side of the ball, not having allowed Serbia, South Sudan, and Puerto Rico to reach the 90-point mark. They have outscored these teams by 64 points combined as they look to keep their defensive edge going in the quarterfinals taking placed on Aug. 6.
