The Miami Marlins will wrap up their series with the Atlanta Braves on Sunday afternoon and look to get a series split. Miami started the series losing the first two games, but bounced back on Saturday after they won 4-3.
The Marlins will also try to prevent the Braves from increasing their lead in the National League wild card race. Atlanta currently sits at the top spot by a game and a half. If Miami beats them on Sunday, they will be in front by just one game and maybe even less as the San Diego Padres, Arizona Diamondbacks, and New York Mets are not far behind them at all.
As for the pitching matchups, right-hand pitcher Edward Cabrera (1-3, 6.65 ERA) goes for the Marlins. He is coming off an okay outing against the Tampa Bay Rays where he struck out seven batters in five innings pitched, but gave up two earned runs on three hits.
Cabrera will go up against Braves southpaw pitcher Max Fried (7-5, 3.08 ERA). It will be Fried’s first start since going on the injured list with forearm neuritis in mid-July. Although he started the season with two rough outings, he has been outstanding in his contract year. His return certainly helps the Braves postseason run.
