MIAMI, Okla. — A shoe drive is being held to raise funds for medical care for more than 100 kittens and puppies at a Miami animal shelter.

The Miami Animal Alliance shoe drive fundraiser ends on August 1. Those wishing to donate can bring gently worn, used and new shoes to 211 Pine, North Miami.

“We are excited about our shoe drive,” said Jenny Allen, Marketing Administrator. “We know that most people have extra shoes in their closets they would like to donate to us. By doing so, we raise money for more than 100 kittens and puppies, and we have the chance to help families in developing nations who need economic opportunities. It’s a win-win for everyone.”

The fundraiser is based on the total weight of the shoes collected.

All donated shoes will then be redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs, a network of micro-enterprise small business partners. According to a prepared statement released by the Miami Animal Alliance, donated shoes will be given a second chance and make a difference in people`s lives around the world.

The organization Funds2Orgs will issue a check for the shoes collected, which will go toward the Miami Animal Alliance.

Funds2Orgs works with micro-entrepreneurs to help them create, maintain, and grow small businesses in developing countries where economic opportunity and jobs are limited. Proceeds from shoe sales collected in shoe drive fundraisers are used to feed, clothe, and house their families.
