Nitro residents, visitors to get a 'Taste' of community on Saturday

NITRO, W.Va. -- Hungry Kanawha Valley residents and visitors can fill their cravings for both food and community at a planned festival in Nitro on Saturday.

The annual "Taste of Nitro" food festival will bring together churches, community organizations and other food vendors from around the city on Aug. 3, 2024. It will be held at Living Memorial Park, at the corner of Second Avenue and 21st Street in Nitro, from noon to 4 p.m.

Attendees can purchase tickets -- $1 per ticket, with discounts for purchasing five or 20 tickets -- that can be exchanged for various food items prepared by community organizations and other local vendors. Food items range from hot dogs to tacos -- and much more.

In addition to food, the festival will include music, inflatables, a magician, a foam party, a dunk tank and more.

Funds raised during the event, which is held each summer, support the Nitro Mission Team, officials said. According to Nitro's St. Paul United Methodist Church website, the Nitro Mission Team supports community members with projects and odd jobs.

“Come together for a day of community, fellowship and fun,” organizers said in a statement. “Don’t miss out on this fantastic event that brings our community together.”
