ST. ALBANS, W.Va. (WCHS) — Police officers in St. Albans said an investigation has been launched into a former high school girls basketball coach. Officers said they began investigating St. Albans High School Girls Basketball Coach Ricky Steele in May, but will not release information on the nature of that investigation.

HURRICANE, W.Va. (WCHS) — A Putnam County man accused of soliciting a minor on the internet and then traveling to meet her was taken into custody Monday, U.S. marshals said. Elliot Simmons, 50, of Hurricane is charged with soliciting a minor and traveling to engage the minor in sexual activity, according to a news release from the U.S. Marshals Service.

California supplier pleads guilty to trafficking meth
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Federal authorities have another major drug supplier behind bars as part of an extensive, long-running operation. Alejandro Gallegos, also known as “Alex,” “Rooster,” “G” and “Primo,” 41, of Hacienda Heights, California, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine and 500 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of cocaine. Gallegos admitted to a major supplier role in a drug trafficking organization (DTO) that operated in the Charleston area.
