This was a legal malpractice lawsuit in a case involving a loan related to a Michigan cannabis business. The lawsuit alleged that the lender’s attorney failed to properly secure the loan, forcing her to accept partial repayment of a fraction of what she was owed when the borrower defaulted.

The defense maintained that no attorney-client relationship existed and, therefore, there was no breach of duty. A settlement was negotiated after the parties engaged in mediation.

Matthew L. Turner, counsel for the plaintiff, provided case information.
