New Amazon facility opens in Fayetteville
The giant new Amazon Fulfillment Center near Fort Liberty is starting to show signs of life. The new Amazon facility opened in June in Fayetteville at 6309 Bragg Blvd. The 1.3 million-square-foot-facility located in the Military Business Park was supposed to open in 2023, but a representative from Amazon told WRAL News the delay won't stop the company in its plans to hire 1,000 employees at the site.

Henrico Police arrest 18-year-old in connection with Eastern Henrico homicide
An 18-year-old Henrico man has been arrested and charged in connection to a June shooting that left a man dead in Eastern Henrico. Henrico Police took Damarcus Alexander Mason into custody July 19 and charged him with second-degree murder, armed robbery, and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in connection with a June 16 shooting in the 4600 block of Grand Ledge Court that left 23-year-old Lamontae Aubrey Scott, 23, of Sandston dead. Lance Williams, a Department of Agricultural and Human Sciences undergraduate, received the McKenzie Study Abroad Award from the National Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. In 2024, Phi Kappa Phi provided awards to 125 exceptional college students across the country to offset the cost of studying abroad. Wendell H. McKenzie and his wife Georgie McKenzie established the McKenzie Study Abroad Award. Severe storms and flash flooding cause problems across central NC on Monday afternoon
The chance for severe storms became a reality Monday afternoon in central North Carolina.Shortly before 3:15 p.m. a severe thunderstorm pushed through Durham, Granville, Wake and Franklin counties for a little over an hour.The storm brought flash flooding to some areas, including a service road along side 15-501 in Durham.
