    2 teens shot during Middletown fireworks

    MIDDLETOWN, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Police are investigating after two teens were shot at a park during holiday fireworks.

    The Middletown Division of Police says a shooting occurred around 10 p.m. at Smith Park, where fireworks were being set off for the city’s annual Independence Day event.

    Medical experts caution July 4 fireworks users ahead of holiday

    While at the park, officers were alerts to a 15-year-old boy who had been shot in the leg. He was transported to a local hospital for his injuries.

    A short time later, Middletown police were notified of another gunshot victim who had showed up at an emergency room in Franklin. The 14-year-old boy told officers he had also been shot at Smith Park.

    Police say both victims are expected to recover.

    No arrests have been made in connection to this incident. Investigation is ongoing.
