Flash mob marriage proposal captivates Downtown Scranton with song and dance
SCRANTON, Pa. (WOLF) — A flash mob converged this evening in Downtown Scranton in front of Pappas Pizza all for one man's marriage proposal. It was elaborately orchestrated, with a number of people in attendance, full of song and dance almost like something out of a movie. Thankfully, the woman who was proposed to said yes.
Scranton officials plan to repeal residency requirement
The City of Scranton plans to repeal a 4 decades long residency requirement that requires municipal employees to live in the Electric City. According to reports, Mayor Paige Gebhardt Cognetti sent Scranton City Council a proposed ordinance to repeal the residency requirement across the board, for all city employees, including administrative employees not in any union. Mayor Cognetti said the residency requirement is impeding the city's ability to retain and attract quality employees to the City of Scranton. Council on Tuesday voted 3-2, with President Gerald Smurl, Bill King and Jessica Rothchild all in favor of the repeal, and Mark McAndrew and Tom Schuster opposed.
Man charged with committing $1.5M pandemic fraud

Williamsport, P.A. – Catcher McGwire Holbrook hit his second home run of the season in the Crosscutters 15-4 loss to Frederick. Greenwood’s Maya Gantt to run at Lees-McRae College
Maya Gantt of Greenwood High School will be moving to Banner Elk, North Carolina to pursue running cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field at Lees-McRae College. During high school, Gantt participated in the standard 5000m (3.1 miles) cross country run in the fall and in spring track events such as the 800m run, 1600m run, 3200m run, and the 4x800m relay.

Man arrested after shooting barbershop owner in Wilkes-Barre
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — A man who shot a business owner in Luzerne County in May of last year has been arrested. United States Marshall announced the arrest of 34-year-old Julio Rivas of Wilkes-Barre on Friday morning. Rivas was located and arrested in the 10 block of Elizabeth Street in Wilkes-Barre without incident and turned over to the Wilkes-Barre Police.
