In today’s Fact or Fiction – Portal Edition – I look at three more transfer topics and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or FICTION .

    1. Colorado’s 2023/2024 portal additions will lead them towards a playoff run

    Mark’s take: FICTION

It was no surprise that Colorado once again took a deep dive into the portal. There were some glaring holes on the 2023 roster, especially on the offensive line, so that dive was necessary to try and improve the roster before 2024. But did they do enough to accomplish this and potentially make a run towards the playoffs? The answer is no. While Shedeur Sanders and the receivers are potentially elite, there are still questions on the line and with the running game. Until I see improved play from both, and in reality, that improvement has to be significant from last season, it is hard to take Colorado seriously on the national landscape. Overall, even with some elite individual talent present, the Buffaloes didn't do enough during the off-season to experience the success some are predicting.

    2. Nic Scourton will have the same impact at Texas A&M as he did at Purdue

    Mark’s take: FACT

It isn’t often that a player from a Big Ten program can finish a season with 50 tackles, 15 tackles for a loss and 10 sacks yet still slide under the national radar. But that’s what Nic Scourton did at Purdue last season. This is mostly because the Boilermakers finished 4-8 in 2023 and were never on the national radar, but Scourton’s season still deserved more attention. Having made the move to Texas A&M, where he has shined since his arrival on campus, he won’t have the same problem in College Station. With the additional exposure at Texas A&M, Scourton will continue to shine in the SEC. Expect similar production and an All-SEC caliber season out of the defensive end this season.

    3. RB Roydell Williams will flourish at Florida State

    Mark’s take: FACT

Roydell Williams arrived at Alabama as a Top 100 high school recruit, but after four seasons with the Tide he is looking to re-invent himself at Florida State. And he will accomplish that with the Seminoles. While Williams was never the main back at Alabama, he did have some opportunities which resulted in 1,165 yards and 11 touchdowns during his time in Tuscaloosa. Now as the lead back, look for him to become a vital part of the Seminoles' offense while having the best season of his collegiate career.
