They say a lie travels halfway around the globe before the truth gets its boots on. In the case of Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes, the lie traveled 50,000 times around the world with the aid of a sycophant suck-up media blitz, celebrity and pop culture, and the complicit defiance of the press and masses of respecting college football reality.

The beauty of college football is that you can run but can’t hide. There is no defying the game’s gravity and time-tested truths. Last year, Coach Prime got away with his smoke and mirrors show for a 3-0 start against what is now understood to be a weak collection of opponents. But soon, the weaknesses of his philosophy started to be revealed, namely, the lack of defense and offensive line quality .

Since that 3-0 start, Sanders and his Buffs are 2-9 after a 28-10 loss at Nebraska. The game was not as close as the final score indicated. Nebraska manhandled the Buffs and showed no mercy to quarterback Shedeur Sanders , who left the field battered and bruised in defeat without waiting to congratulate the Huskers and coach Matt Rhule , whom the Louis Vuitton model was so eager to insult after CU’s win over the Big Red last year.

The loss at Nebraska was a full, prime-time exposure of the utter fraud being perpetrated by Deion Sanders and the Colorado football program. The truth is now out, glaring and undeniable, to the point that not even Colorado cultists can deny it.

Deion Sanders's Fantasy Football experiment is not just a failure; it's an abysmal one. It's a disappointment, a disillusionment for those who believed in the hype and the celebrity. But in the end, it's just another failed attempt to overshadow the fundamental truths of the game.

Fantasy Football is Just That, A Fantasy

The coaching graveyard is filled with ignorant egomaniacs who thought they could reinvent the game, yet nobody has. Football comes down to interior line play, blocking, and tackling. You can have a fantasy football lineup of NFL talent, which Colorado boasts of. But if you don’t have linemen who can protect that talent or stop the other team from imposing its will, you have nothing. And that is what Deion Sanders, and his Colorado football program have been exposed as. Nothing.

On paper, to the fan boy media and Colorado Cultists, a lineup led by Shedeur, Travis Hunter , Jimmy Horn Jr . , and LaJohntay Wester appears to be an instant winner. Instead, it is a lineup of superstar talent that will be wasted because Coach Prime failed to deliver a supporting cast.

Sanders tried to reinvent college football by the transfer portal while luxuriating in his comfy digs, as if he were above recruiting like the rest of the plodding fools such as Nebraska’s Matt Rhule, who are constantly out hustling for players to develop.

Deion Sanders outsmarted only himself. College football's gravity and its laws of nature have been reaffirmed. You must recruit, develop, and build teams. The reality of fantasy football is that it will be obliterated on the field.

My, What a Difference a Year Makes – Fantasy vs. Reality

Last year in Week 2, Colorado was gifted a 36-14 win by visiting Nebraska, who trailed only 13-7 in the third quarter before turnovers and errors caught up to the Big Red. Additionally, Colorado was able to have its way against a Nebraska team largely comprised of holdovers from the failed Scott Frost era. Nebraska was not ready to win in Rhule’s second game as head coach. It was the perfect storm for Fantasy Football to exploit Nebraska’s vulnerabilities.

Since then, Matt Rhule has been relentless in his pursuit of top talent, led by his flipping 5-star quarterback Dylan Raiola from the Georgia Bulldogs to Nebraska. That coup set the stage for a vast upgrade in talent for the Big Red. Next came an offseason of hard work and development in a program that many players at other schools could not stomach.

For the past nine months, life has been a spartan existence in Lincoln, Nebraska, but it is paying dividends. Rhule has a stable roster with few portal departures and selective use of incoming transfers.

Compare Nebraska’s culture to the revolving door roster and chaos of Colorado. The Buffs’ reliance on the portal for its interior lines has become a catastrophe and has put its elite skilled players, most of all Shedeur Sanders, in harm’s way.

As predicted, Coach Prime has been exposed. His career figuratively ended at Memorial Stadium on Saturday in prime time. Nebraska’s respect for the eternal truths of the game paid off in a dominant win, while Colorado's disrespect for the substance of the game has turned them into the biggest joke in the sport.

In a matchup of second-year coaches and programs, substance won in a rout.

The end of the Sanders era has arrived. It’s only a matter of time, or make that Prime Time.

In the end, College football’s eternal truths, Nebraska, and Matt Rhule got the last laugh.
