Frontier Airlines Ramps Up Check-in Times: New Baggage Policy Effective from August 16, 2023

Frontier Airlines, a popular low-cost carrier, has announced a new baggage policy that mandates passengers to arrive at the airport at least an hour before their flight if they plan to check in luggage.

Effective from August 16, 2023, the airline's ticket counters will cease operations for check-in and baggage drop-off 60 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. This is a significant departure from the previous policy that allowed passengers to drop their bags off just 45 minutes before their flight departure time.

In response to queries about the new policy, a spokesperson for the budget airline reassured passengers. "We continue to be committed to getting you and your bags to your destination without interruption," the spokesperson stated on their Twitter post, which announced the new policy.

The change will result in Frontier Airlines passengers needing to show up earlier than passengers on most other major U.S airlines. For comparison, United Airlines, American Airlines, and Southwest Airlines require passengers to check their bags at least 45 minutes prior to departure for domestic flights. Jet Blue's requirement is 40 minutes, and Delta Air Lines allows passengers to check their bags as late as 30 minutes before departure.

The change in policy has drawn a mixed response from Frontier's passengers. Some see it as a measure to ensure smoother operations, while others view it as a significant inconvenience, especially considering the relatively shorter check-in times required by other major airlines.

The new policy will certainly require travelers to adjust their routines, especially those used to arriving closer to their departure time. As always, passengers are advised to stay updated with their airlines' specific requirements to avoid any potential travel hiccups.
