Chopping veggies, mixing dough, browning butter, and prepping food... activities you might not associate with summer camp. This, however, was "Livin' la Vita Nova," Culinary Camp at the University of Delaware's Vita Nova student-run restaurant. Kids of about middle-school age took part in a week of learning and testing their skills in the kitchen, with an emphasis on the importance of safety - as well as cleaning up.

Wilmington Man Arrested After Traffic Stop in Dewey Beach
A traffic stop by Dewey Beach Police Friday night led to the arrest of a Wilmington man on a variety of charges. Police detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and the driver handed police a New York driver’s license belonging to another person. The driver was later identified as 36 year old Ramone Shy of Wilmington. Shy attempted to run off on foot, but was arrested after a brief foot race. A search of the vehicle turned up black gloves, a flashlight, wire cutters, glass window punch and a flat-head screwdriver – which are commonly used for burglary. Shy is charged with the following offenses:
South College Avenue to close for four nights
A portion of South College Avenue will once again have overnight closures this week to allow workers to install steel girders for the Interstate 95 interchange project. Wilmington Man Arrested on Multiple Charges Following Traffic Stop in Dewey Beach
DEWEY BEACH, DE - A Wilmington man was arrested on multiple charges following a traffic stop in Sussex County. On Friday, July 19th, at approximately 11:30pm, Dewey Beach Police Department officers conducted a traffic stop on a blue 2020 Hyundai Sonata with a New York registration. Officers stopped the vehicle after they observed it cross over the solid "white fog line" on the right side of Coastal Highway. Dewey Police also say that the driver was improperly wearing his seat belt.

State Police Investigate Late-Night Shooting on New Castle Avenue
The Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred late Saturday night on New Castle Avenue in New Castle, Delaware. On July 20, 2024, at approximately 10:53 p.m., troopers responded to a report of a shooting in the 3100 block of New Castle Avenue.
