I don't understand why anyone would be heartless enough to do this. Statistics are showing that dog thefts in Illinois are skyrocketing and there's no good reason why. If you pay attention to headlines, you've seen a number of these dognapping cases in Illinois including one that was stolen during an armed robbery in Chicago and another dog stolen a few months ago in Joliet. Some thief even stole a dog in Illinois that was being cared for at a foster home from a shelter.

The newest cannabis dispensary in Illinois is located on a lake and offers dockside service. I'm going to step out on a limb to say I think this legal recreational marijuana thing has worked out okay for Illinois. Okay, I'm just kidding, it's frickin' huge. Millions and millions of dollars have been generated in just a handful of years.

GILMAN — The Gilman Star, a weekly newspaper covering western Iroquois County since 1869, is publishing its final edition on Wednesday, July 31. The Star’s closure represents the third of 2024 for a weekly newspaper in Illinois, which saw six weeklies close in 2023 and 15 in 2022, according to the Illinois Press Association’s Cindy Bedolli, citing data for only its member papers, with mergers not included. With this latest closure, there are now 374 Illinois Press Association member publications statewide — 330 weeklies to go with 44 dailies, defined as newspapers that produce a print or electronic edition more than three days a week.

Lincoln, IL – Southeast Illinois residents should brace for severe thunderstorms this Thursday afternoon, with damaging winds and potential tornadoes in the forecast. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a severe thunderstorm watch effective from 1:10 PM EDT until 8:00 PM EDT. Scattered damaging winds up to 70 mph are likely, with isolated large hail events up to 1 inch in diameter possible. A tornado or two may also occur.
