Valparaiso Police Department Adds Three More Graduates from the School of Staff and Command at Northwestern University
The Valparaiso Police Department is pleased to announce the recent graduation of Captain Melanie Sheets, Detective Sergeant Chris Allison, and Patrol Lieutenant Jerame Simpson from the School of Police Staff and Command (SPSC) at Northwestern University. The officers have successfully completed the (22) week Staff and Command program. This program, which was implemented by the Center for Public Safety in 1983, has graduated over 21,000 students both nationally and internationally. Captain Sheets and Detective Sergeant Allison were students in SPSC Class #564, while Lieutenant Simpson was a student in SPSC Class #572.
Boys Junior Varsity Soccer beats Boone Grove 2 – 1
In the innaugural game at the Boone Grove Wolves new stadium, the KV Boys Junior Varsity Soccer Team kicked off their season with a hard earned 2-1 victory. The Kougars lit the scoreboard quickly in their opening game when Chris Duljan found John Pawlak at the top of the penalty box. John left no doubt to the outcome of the shot with a wonderful strike to give the Kougars an early 1-0 lead.

A Woman Gets Arrested For Taking Advantage Of Applebee's
A woman found herself in cuffs after sharing her “All You Can Eat” special at Applebee’s. Shawneesha Cobbs, 28, of Chicago, went to an Applebee’s in Indiana and got the $15.99 special, great deal right? Well she allegedly shared with the rest of her table, and that's a big no no. When the manager objected and charged the woman for two specials, they got into a heated argument, resulting in the police being called. The woman was warned by police that she could be charged with disorderly conduct and continued yelling until she was arrested.

The heat and humidity rise this weekend
One more cool night before temperatures start to warm-up. Friday highs rise into the 80s and temperatures may a run at 90 by Sunday. Monday will be the hottest day, with a heat index in the mid-90s.
