Deputies from the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office arrested a man believed to have robbed a woman earlier this week in the Millbrae Hills area.

At around 1:30 p.m. Monday, deputies assigned to the Millbrae Police Bureau were dispatched to the area of Helen Drive and Evergreen Way, regarding a woman in distress.

Deputies saw a 27-year-old Millbrae woman who said she was unloading items from her car into her home when the suspect drove up and began to steal items from the back of her car.

The woman approached the suspect and a brief altercation ensued before the suspect drove off. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the altercation.

Deputies, with help from automated license plate reader technology, identified the suspect as 45-year-old Angaaetau Lasike of San Mateo.

Deputies and officers from the San Mateo Police Department went to Lasike's home in the 200 block of Lindberg Street in San Mateo on Monday and arrested him. He was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on suspicion of robbery and probation violation.
