Three Village school district considers later start time proposal
The change would mean later mornings for secondary students. After years of advocacy and discussion over shifting secondary school start times later, Three Village Board of Education settled on a framework to put forward for community input. If adopted, Ward Melville High School and the district’s two junior high schools — P.J. Gelinas and R.C. Murphy — would each start 35 minutes later than they currently do, at 7:40 a.m. and 8:15 a.m., respectively.

Five killed in Syosset murders/suicide
A Syosset man allegedly shot and killed three of his siblings and his niece before turning the gun on himself, according to the Nassau County Police Department. Police say that on Sunday, August 25, at 11:58 a.m. they were called to a Wyoming Avenue home due to reports of gunshots. There they discovered the body of Joseph Delucia, 59, in a lawn chair outside the home, where he apparently shot himself. Inside the home, officers discovered four other victims:

New Haven Man Killed After Being Ejected From Car In 2-Vehicle Crash
The incident occurred in New Haven County around 5:40 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 28, on I-91 in North Haven. According to the Connecticut State Police, the crash occurred when a 41-year-old New Haven man, driving a 2006 Honda Civic on I-91 South, for an unknown reason, went into the median and struck a guardrail before crossing back into I-91 North and striking a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu.
