    Millersport news: Community shredding event to be held Friday

    The Village of Millersport will provide a community shredding event from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, at the Village Municipal Building, 2245 Refugee Street in Millersport. Residents are allowed to bring a total of five boxes per household of paper materials, such as canceled checks, old bills, etc. to be shredded on the mobile shredding truck. Further information can be obtained at the village at 740-467-2333.

    Mosquito spraying

    Scheduled dates for mosquito spraying in the Village of Millersport are Wednesday, July 24, Wednesday, Aug. 14, Tuesday, Aug. 27 and Thursday, Aug. 29.

    Senior citizens

    The Millersport Senior Citizens met July 19 in the Millersport Lions Clubhouse, 2905 Chautauqua Boulevard in Millersport. Nineteen members and one guest were welcomed by President Richard Neff. The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and prayer was offered by Nancy Davis. Rosie Brookover served on the Kitchen Committee.

    Following the potluck lunch President Neff conducted the business meeting. Members who are ill and unable to attend were remembered and cards will be sent. The Kitchen Committee for August will be Dave and Marty Holtz. Thoughts and prayers go out to member Roy Brewer in the death of his granddaughter. Thanks to Judy Harris and Carol Kitzmiller each member present received a door prize. The meeting was adjourned for cards and Bingo.

    The next meeting will be held at noon, Friday, August 2nd at the Lions Clubhouse. Anyone 55 years of age and older is encouraged to join for fun, food and fellowship.

    Walnut Township Local Schools

    The Walnut Township Local School District Board of Education met in regular session at 6:00 p.m. Monday, July 15th in the Laker Learning Center of Millersport High School.

    Buckeye Lake Marina, Horvath Harbor, BCW Services and Millersport Coffee were recognized as the school’s 2024 OSBA Business Honor Roll recipients.

    The Board of Education voted to go into executive session to consider the employment or compensation of a public employee.

    The minutes and Treasurer’s Reports were approved including transfers and advances as well as open purchase orders exceeding the $25,000 limit.

    Reports were given by elementary principal Kim Mathews, high school principal Mike Collins, Policy Development Chair Jennifer Levacy, and Superintendent Kim Radulovich.

    The board voted to go into Executive Session to consider the employment or compensation of a public employee.
