Speed Awareness: IDOT, NHTSA, law enforcement agencies urge drivers to slow down, save lives
Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Illinois Department of Transportation is partnering with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and other law enforcement agencies to promote the nationwide, “Speeding Catches Up with You” speeding prevention campaign to remind drivers to slow down and to emphasize the importance of safe driving.

Coal City gets power back
Thankfully, electricity is back on for most of Coal City as ComEd crews worked non-stop to repair a major power line that fell onto Interstate 55 around 9:30 p.m. Monday. Homeowners north of Division Street got their power back shortly after 6 a.m. Wednesday. By 1 p.m., 120 of 2,720 customers had their power back on.

This year’s programming schedule will feature three days of real-time performances by various talented local disc jockey (DJ) artists, running through November 1st.
