Amici Club is a social organization for anyone wishing to enhance their appreciation of Italian heritage and culture. The club was founded by Maria Mastrolanardo, who moved with her family to Naperville in 2004 from an Italian neighborhood in Chicago. Disappointed that she could not find stores that sold the Italian foods she was used to, Maria posted a notice in a local restaurant asking others with the same problem to meet for lunch.
Edison Park Grocery Store At Former Happy Foods Could Open This Year
EDISON PARK — The grocery store and cafe filling the closed Happy Foods in Edison Park could open before the end of the year, the owner said. EP Market is taking over the space at 6783 N. Northwest Highway, which has sat empty for almost two years. The family-owned market will include a cafe, bakery and taqueria, co-owner Eduardo Haro said. The store will offer a wide- range of groceries and prepared foods that “really cater to the neighborhood,” said Chris Vittorio, chief of staff for Ald. Anthony Napolitano (41st).

The Chicago community is thrown into concern as the police department has issued a report on the disappearance of an 81-year-old African-American male, William Kemp, who was last seen on July 15th in the vicinity of 106th and Drew, his last known contact before seemingly vanishing without a trace. The Chicago Police Department, urgently seeking any leads that could help in locating Kemp, urged anyone with information to come forward.

ILLINOIS, USA — Nearly 150 more high-risk zip codes have been added to the Illinois Department of Public Health's lead testing list. IDPH keeps track of zip codes throughout the state where residents are at a higher risk of lead exposure. On July 1, 148 new zip codes, representing 60 Illinois counties, were added to the list. That brings the total number of high risk zip codes up to almost 1,200.
