STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — New York veterans will be receiving millions of dollars in new aid from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. On Friday, the department announced in a written statement that “it will award $43,955,195 million in grants to help homeless and at-risk New York Veterans — along with an additional $16,756,899 million to benefit veterans from New York and surrounding states.”

Diesel the dog is back with family and expected to fully recover after being trapped in a Watkins Glen blaze on August 11, 2024. Personnel limited the structural damage in the fire and rescued Diesel, who was home alone and found unresponsive. He was revived with oxygen and CPR.
