Cornell’s Grady snaps Team USA’s 64-year drought, wins gold
PARIS (CortacaToday) — A 2019 Big Red grad has won gold in Paris. Michael Grady and the US men’s 4 rowing squad narrowly defeated New Zealand on Thursday to capture the medal. The margin of victory was .85 seconds. It was the first men’s rowing gold for Team USA since 1960. Grady is one of five Cornellians representing the United States in the games, including Lansing native Kyle Dake, who hits the wrestling mat next week in his second consecutive Olympics.

ITHACA, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The journey for gold takes years, and for Mike Grady, a rower for Team USA, his path took him through Cornell. “When you meet him, he can look you square in the eye, and he’s just as charismatic as he can possibly be. Great smile, great hello, he remembers your name and he make you feel really good. He’s a great person,” Todd Kennett, the head coach of Cornell’s heavy weight rowing squad, said.
