Rochester, N.Y. -- If you have plans Friday afternoon be sure to carry an umbrella with you. There is a slow moving warm front approaching our region which is attached to a surface low. You can expect some isolated showers and even some thunder storms. These slow moving showers can cause for some flash flooding in some areas but none the less a great drink for your lawn.
Odessa hosting community day on Saturday, August 17th
ODESSA, N.Y. (WENY) -- In a few weeks, Odessa will hold a new celebration that organizers are hoping will turn into an annual event. Watkins Glen Promotions announced that the first Odessa Community Day will take place on Saturday, August 17th on Church Street in Odessa from noon to 7:00 p.m.
Ithaca Dragon Boat Club celebrates 20th anniversary
ITHACA, N.Y. — Three times a week, after a brief warmup and some chatting, members of the Ithaca Dragon Boat Club can be seen paddling in large dragon-shaped boats down the inlet near Cass Park. A drummer at the front of each boat sets the beat to which the crew paddles in synchronicity while a steerer in the back keeps the boat moving in the right direction.

5-year-old boy dies from injuries after being rescued from Rochester fire
Rochester, N.Y. — Malakai Stovall, 5, died from his injuries Thursday morning, three days after he was rescued from a fire at his home on the city's northeast side. Authorities believe the fire was set intentionally at the entrance of a duplex on Portland Avenue near Shelmont Drive around 2 a.m. Monday. Police couldn't elaborate on what was used to start the fire, but they said the flames spread quickly, which complicated rescue efforts.
