Wayne County, law enforcement agencies, arrest 11 fugitives in collaborative effort

MILTON, Ind. — A collaborative effort among local law enforcement agencies resulted in the arrest of multiple fugitives in late June, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

On June 25, deputies from the Wayne and Union County Sheriff’s Offices, along with the Fayette County/Connersville Police Department joint task force, served multiple felony drug warrants at multiple locations.

According to a release from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, this resulted in 11 arrests.

“We appreciate the cooperation and dedication of all agencies involved in this operation,” Wayne County Chief Deputy Alan Moore said in the release. “This successful operation demonstrates the effectiveness of the strong partnerships formed in this multi-county cooperative designed to combat criminal activity in this region.”

Officials said that during the collaboration, there was a three hour standoff in Milton that resulted in the arrest of a man. The office said that the man reportedly attempted to escape through his bedroom window but remained in the house because of the “strong officer presence.”

The man remained in the home even as officers told him to surrender. The office said that the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office/Connersville Police Departments joint SWAT team entered the home and took the man into custody.
