North Carolina has not been spared from the heat. “We are trending toward one of our warmest years on record in North Carolina,” said Kathie Dello, N.C.'s state climatologist. “While we haven’t had 13 months of consistent records in North Carolina, we are feeling the heat — both in the daytime and the nighttime temperatures.”

According to the North Carolina Education Lottery, a Cash 5 ticket sold at the Family Fare located at 101 N. Main St. in Creedmoor won $50,000 Sunday. It matched all five numbers in the Double Play drawing, the lottery said.

The Biden Administration has awarded a $242 million grant through its Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to replace the aging Cape Fear Memorial Bridge in Wilmington, North Carolina.
