MILTON — The Milton Public Library will have auditions from 5-7 p.m. July 8 for an original play written by Jim and Ash Lyke called “The Reluctant Monarch” that will be performed at the first-ever Monarch Festival on Sept. 7.

Library Director Ashlee Kunkel said the library is having the festival to celebrate the story garden and because Milton is an official monarch city.

Also part of the festival will be morning yoga hosted by Flow & Co. and presentations from the Rock County Beekeepers, Wisconsin Pollinators and local organizations to teach people about the world of bees and other pollinators.

She said that there will also be a wing parade where different people can craft their own wings and walk in a parade. There is also an art walk with 18 different artists who designed a set of wings that will auctioned off as part of a fundraiser for the library

Kunkle said children age 11-17 can audition for five roles in the play.
