Wisconsin Coach owner Coach USA files for Ch. 11
A pair of Wisconsin's most well-known bus operations could see a change in ownership soon.<\p> Coach USA, the owner of Waukesha-based Wisconsin Coach and Janesville-based Van Galder Bus Co., filed late Tuesday for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as the bus company struggled in the wake of drastic changes to Americans' transportation habits during and after the Covid-19 pandemic.<\p>
Ascension says hackers stole 'small number' of files, data safe
Ascension said there’s no evidence that a recent cyberattack resulted in data being taken from electronic health records and other clinical systems, but hackers did steal a small number of files that may contain protected health information.<\p> Ascension, which is one of the largest health care systems in the country and in Wisconsin, also said Wednesday it determined how the attacker gained access to Ascension systems.<\p>
MCW's Greg Wesley named CEO of Greater Milwaukee Foundation
Medical College of Wisconsin executive Greg Wesley was named the next president and CEO of the influential Greater Milwaukee Foundation succeeding Ellen Gilligan, who is retiring.<\p> Wesley, 54 and a resident of Milwaukee, starts his new role on Aug. 1. <\p>

Madison has been categorized as one of the 10 happiest cities in the U.S., according to a new global ranking from the Institute for Quality of Life.<\p> The London research firm compiled data across thousands of categories to rank cities around the world for its “Happy City Index.”<\p>

PrideFest reports attendance and sales growth
PrideFest Milwaukee experienced another record year as the festival came to a close this weekend.<\p> The annual event put on by Milwaukee Pride Inc, at Henry Maier Festival Park saw increases across most of its business categories from revenue to sponsors and partners but fell short of its attendance goal of 46,000 to 48,000. However, it still managed to beat its 2023 attendance numbers on its way to climbing back to pre-pandemic numbers.<\p>
Marquette provost named acting president after Lovell's passing
In the wake of the recent passing of Marquette University president Michael Lovell, the university has moved quickly in naming his replacement in the interim while they look for a full-time successor.<\p> The Marquette University Board of Trustees elected provost Kimo Ah Yun to serve as the university’s 25th president in an acting capacity.<\p>
Local subcontractors named for RNC work
Republican National Convention organizers disclosed the identities of three Wisconsin subcontractors and a supplier for the project that will transform Fiserv Forum, UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena and the Baird Center into venues for the mid-July event.<\p> The RNC’s general services contractor, Freeman Exposition LLC, will work with numerous Wisconsin-based subcontractors to assist with the buildout of the three buildings, the Republican National Convention Committee on Arrangements said Tuesday.<\p>
WeWork emerges from bankruptcy, appoints new CEO
After filing for bankruptcy protection in November, New York-based WeWork Inc. said Tuesday it has emerged from Chapter 11 and completed its operational and financial restructuring.<\p> The coworking giant's new era will include a new board of directors and a new chief executive. John Santora will become WeWork's new CEO, effective Wednesday. Santora joins WeWork from commercial real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield PLC (NYSE: CWK), where he most recently served as the firm’s Tri-State chairman.<\p>
Wisconsin tourism impact at $25B last year
Wisconsin is a tourism destination that just keeps growing.<\p> On Tuesday, the Wisconsin Department of Tourism announced that the state saw a total economic impact of $25 billion from the tourism industry, an increase of 5.4% over the record set in 2022 of $23.7 billion.<\p>
GE HealthCare names CEOs of two major business units
GE HealthCare Technologies Inc. promoted from within for the new CEOs at two of its divisions, and both will spend some of their work time at the company’s Waukesha campus.<\p> The company announced Monday naming Roland Rott president and CEO of imaging and Phil Rackliffe president and CEO of ultrasound and image-guided therapies. The changes are effective July 1.<\p>
Madison medtech, Pewaukee ice provider win Tech Council honors
CranioSure, a Madison-based company that has designed a mobile app to screen infant head shapes to detect risk of craniosyntosis – accurately and early enough to help avoid surgeries – has been named the winner of the 21st annual Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan Contest.<\p> The firm was chosen from 13 contestants who presented among the “Diligent (Baker’s) Dozen” finalists on June 5 during the annual Wisconsin Entrepreneurs’ Conference at the Italian Community Center in Milwaukee. The finalists competed for cash and in-kind prizes to help fund their businesses.<\p>
