Comedian Bill Maher backed out of plans to perform stand-up at Milwaukee's Riverside Theater Sunday on the eve of the Republican National Convention in the city because of mechanical issues with his plane.

But Maher will be back in Milwaukee. Riverside operator Pabst Theater Group announced Monday that a new show has been set for Sept. 8. All previously purchased tickets will be honored. Refund requests can be made through Aug. 12 by emailing tickets@ptglive.com.

Maher posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) Sunday saying he was unable to make it to Milwaukee for the "WTF? Tour" stop, saying it was one of only a few occasions where he's postponed a show.

"First they said it's going to be impossible to get to the theater because downtown (Milwaukee) is going to be closed off for security reasons," Maher explained. He said in the video he planned to come to Milwaukee anyway, but his "plane broke," saying he tried to book a commercial flight out of Minneapolis, where he performed Saturday, but it was not possible.

"It breaks my heart," Maher said in the video. "I was really looking forward to it, we'd do anything to be there but I just can't fight this."
