Meet the 98th Assembly District candidates in the Republican primary in Tuesday's election

Two candidates are running in the Republican primary for the 98th Assembly District seat of the state Legislature in the Aug. 13 primary election .

Jim Piwowarczyk and Don Pridemore will face off in the primary, with the winner taking on Democrat Del A. Schmechel in the Nov. 5 general election. Schmechel is unopposed in the Democratic primary.

The incumbent in the district, Adam Neylon, is running in the 15th Assembly District because legislative map changes moved him into that district.

The 98th Assembly District includes parts of Waukesha and Washington counties, like Richfield, Hubertus and Hartford.

Here's what to know about the candidates:

Jim Piwowarczyk

Residence: Hubertus

Political experience: None

Occupation: Entrepreneur and co-founder of Wisconsin Right Now, a conservative news website

Policies: On his campaign website , Piwowarczyk prioritizes law and order, education, parents’ rights, the Second Amendment, accountability for criminals, lower taxes and a business climate free of excessive regulation. He said he wants the border secured, police funded and inflation brought under control.

Don Pridemore

Residence: Hartford

Political experience: State Assembly representative, 2005-2015; Hartford Union High School and Hartford Joint 1 School District board member; ran unsuccessfully for state superintendent of public instruction in 2013.

Occupation: Retired

Policies: On his campaign website , Pridemore lists priorities of education reform, the Second Amendment, voter integrity, political term limits, support for veterans, abortion rights opposition and immigration reform.
