Victor's on Van Buren remains open while the owners look for a buyer of the property after nearly 60 years of business in downtown Milwaukee.

The bar, at 1230 N. Van Buren St., was put up for sale earlier this year, according to BizTimes. The listing to purchase Victor's and a nearby parking lot for $1.9 million was active as of Sept. 5.

The bar was open to patrons during Labor Day weekend and has advertised Packers game-day specials for the game against the Eagles on Sept. 6 on its Facebook page. According to a banner in front of the bar, Victor's is open Thursday through Saturday nights, and one hour before kickoff on Packers game days.

Former owner Victor Jones died in September 2021. According to his death notice, Jones took over his father's tavern, The Green Parrot, in the late 1940s and renamed it Victor's. In 1965, Milwaukee bought the bar's block for the Juneau Village apartments, and the bar moved to the Van Buren Street location.

Victor Jones' wife, Mary Ann, owns the bar; his son Vic Jones operates the bar and did not return a request for comment.
