MILWAUKEE — Fresh off a home sweep, the Rangers hit the road this week, traveling to American Family Field in Milwaukee for a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers. Though they hoped for better results, the Rangers left empty-handed, losing all three games.

For the first game, June 24, the Brewers dealt the Rangers a 6-3 loss. Despite holding a 3-1 lead through the first five-and-a-half innings, a five-run explosion by the Brewers in the bottom of the sixth inning would help put them over the edge, as Milwaukee took the lead in the series.

The first four innings finished as scoreless ones, as both pitchers played well, and the offenses failed to capitalize on multiple scoring opportunities.

The Rangers finally broke the scoreless tie in the top of the fifth inning, when Jonah Heim scored a run on an RBI single by Marcus Semien, giving Texas a 1-0 lead. On the next at-bat, Leody Taveras scored a run on an RBI single by Corey Seager, extending the Rangers’ lead to 2-0.

The Brewers would then get on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring a run on a wild pitch and trimming the Rangers’ lead to 2-1.

The Rangers added onto their lead in the top of the sixth inning when Adolis Garcia launched a solo home run, bringing the score to 3-1. From there, the wheels fell off for the Rangers.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, after the bases loaded up, the Brewers took the lead on a grand slam, pulling ahead 5-3. Another run was added soon after, as the Brewers extended their lead to 6-3.

Texas would load up the bases in the top of the seventh inning, but failed to bring any runners home. From there, the Brewers’ defense closed out the rest of the game, handing the Rangers a 6-3 loss and taking a lead in the series.

As a team, the Rangers batted 7 for 34 (.206) from the plate. Garcia led with two hits, while Ezequiel Duran, Heim, Wyatt Langford, Seager, and Semien all recorded one hit each. Garcia, Heim, and Taveras all scored one run each.

Michael Lorenzen started the game at pitcher. Across five innings, he struck out five batters, conceding just five hits, two earned runs, and one walk.

Jacob Latz suffered the loss in his relief appearance. He failed to record an out, giving up three earned runs, two hits, and two walks.

Jonathan Hernandez pitched 2 2/3 innings, conceding three walks, one hit, and one earned run, striking out one batter. Jose Leclerc pitched the final 1/3 of an inning, conceding a walk.

In the second game, June 25, the Rangers suffered a 3-1 loss. In a case of the “same song, different verse” cliche, the Rangers once again got off to an early lead, but couldn’t hold onto it.

The Rangers got on the board first in the first inning when Seager scored on an RBI single by Josh Smith, giving Texas a 1-0 lead. This was followed by a scoreless second inning.

In the third inning, the Brewers got on the board with a run of their own, tying the score at 1-1. Following scoreless fourth inning, the Brewers took the lead in the fifth inning with a solo home run, pulling ahead 2-1.

After a scoreless sixth inning, the Brewers added another run, extending their lead to 3-1. From there, the Rangers weren’t able to bring anyone home, as the Brewers capped off a 3-1 win and clinched a series win.

As a team, the Rangers batted 5 for 31 (.161) from the plate. Garcia, Heim, Seager, Semien, Smith, and Taveras all recorded one hit each. Seager scored the Rangers’ lone run.

Andrew Heaney suffered the loss on the mound. In five innings, he conceded six hits, two earned runs, and two walks, striking out four batters.

Brock Burke pitched 2/3 of a relief inning, walking three batters. Dane Dunning pitched the final 2 1/3 innings, allowing two hits and one earned run, striking out one batter.

For the final game of the series, June 26, the Rangers suffered a 6-5 loss in extra innings. Despite playing hard and keeping pace all game, the Rangers couldn’t come out on top, as the Brewers won the game and completed the sweep.

The first inning ended scoreless, as both defenses got off to strong starts. The Rangers got on the board first in the second inning when Garcia scored a run, giving Texas a 1-0 lead. The Brewers would take the lead in the third inning with a grand slam, jumping into a 4-1 lead.

In the top of the fourth inning, the Rangers pulled ahead again. Their scoring run began with a tworun home run by Nathaniel Lowe; Langford also scored, as Texas trimmed the score to 4-3. Soon after, the Rangers tied the score when Heim launched a solo home run, knotting up the score at 4-4.

Later on, the Rangers pulled ahead again when Davis Wendzel scored a run, giving Texas a 5-4. That lead wouldn’t last long, as the Brewers scored another run in the bottom of the fourth inning, tying the score at 5-5.

The final five innings of regulation would end scoreless, as both offenses couldn’t bring home any runs. This sent the game to extras. After the Rangers were held scoreless in the top of the 10th inning, the Brewers scored the walkoff run in the bottom of the 10th inning, winning the game 6-5 and completing a series sweep.

As a team, the Rangers batted 10 for 39 (.256) from the plate. Heim, Lowe, and Wendzel led with two hits each, while Garcia, Grossman, Derek Hill, and Langford added one hit a piece. Garcia, Heim, Langford, Lowe, and Wendzel all scored one run each.

Nathan Eovaldi started the game at pitcher. Across seven innings, he struck out four batters, conceding nine hits, five earned runs, and one walk. David Robertson pitched the eighth inning, striking out two batters and walking one.

Kirby Yates pitched the ninth inning, recording two strikeouts and conceding just one hit and one walk. Latz suffered the loss in his 2/3 of an inning, allowing one hit and the game-deciding run, striking out one batter.

With these losses, the Rangers dropped to 37-43 on the season. They resumed action Thursday, traveling to Baltimore to take on the Baltimore Orioles in a four-game series at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
