    Man arrested after vehicle pursuit in Walworth County

    ELKHORN, Wis. -- Walworth County Sheriff's office arrested a Milwaukee man after an alleged vehicle pursuit Sunday.

    Police said they initially conducted a traffic stop on vehicle with an Illinois license plate for unlawful side window tint and no front license plate.

    Deputies said while interacting with the man, they allegedly smelled drugs coming from the vehicle. Deputies reportedly told the man to exit the vehicle and the man allegedly drove away from the scene of the stop.

    The vehicle reportedly struck one of the deputies in the arm.

    Police said deputies and other law enforcement officers pursued the man south on I-43 into Rock County. During the pursuit, the vehicle reportedly traveled at 110 MPH.

    In Rock County at approximately mile marker 4, a Wisconsin State Patrol trooper allegedly attempted to deploy stop sticks to deflate the vehicle's tires.

    Deputies said the man swerved his car as he approached the location of the trooper and lost control of his vehicle and crashed through the median barrier.

    The man was reportedly taken into custody at the scene after the crash and first aid was given.

    Deputies reportedly found 1 half pound of marijuana, 20 grams of cocaine and crack cocaine and other THC ingestion products.

    The man was arrested for vehicle operator/eluding a traffic officer, operating while intoxicated (1st offense), battery to public officers, first degree recklessly endangering safety, resisting or obstructing an officer, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession with intent to deliver THC.

    Deputies said the man was issued 16 other traffic citations.

    The man was taken to Walworth County Jail the night of the incident and he was issued a $15,000 cash bond in Walworth County Circuit Court on Monday.
