Federal agents from multiple agencies, state police, county sheriff's deputies and local law enforcement from Tulsa and suburban Baltimore to Charlotte, North Carolina, have arrived in Milwaukee to assist in keeping the area safe during the RNC.

Law enforcement agencies from across Wisconsin and the nation have also offered their services on a volunteer basis to the Milwaukee Police Department.

During an interview with the Wisconsin Law Journal on Friday, Michael Allinger with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, said “public order bike officers” were enroute to Wisconsin.

“They will be riding around Milwaukee on bikes wearing vests to help with ground security,” Allinger said, noting they will be “lending some expertise since Charlotte hosted the RNC back in 2020."

“They have been training all week,” Allinger added.

In a general statement issued to the Wisconsin Law Journal and other news media, Allinger wrote, "The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) is sending a group of Public Order Bike officers to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to assist with event security for the Republican National Convention taking place July 15 18, as requested by the Milwaukee Police Department. CMPD leaders are also sharing expertise having provided security and logistics for the Republican National Convention in Charlotte in 2020. The CMPD requested and received assistance from other departments in 2012 when the City of Charlotte hosted the Democratic National Convention. CMPD has helped other cities for major events in the past including national political conventions, international summits and presidential inaugurations."

Several protests are expected to take place in Wisconsin during the week of the RNC.

As previously reported, protest groups won’t be allowed inside the Secret Service security zone.

Self-described pro-democracy Principles First is holding a rally Wednesday with former Republican Party Chairman Michael Steele as speaker.

Historically, southern law enforcement agencies have restored law and order more efficiently in the recent pro-Hamas campus protests resulting in immediate arrests versus none in Milwaukee.
