One man has been killed by an out-of-town officer blocks away from the RNC security perimeter on 14th and Vliet in Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee Police Department says Columbus, Ohio officers who were in the city helping with security were in a briefing waiting to hear their assignments for the day. That's when the officers saw a 43-year-old male suspect with two knives confronting another person.

Columbus Police released body camera footage showing officers shouting at the suspect to drop the weapons. In the video, the suspect does not drop the weapons and appears to move toward the second individual.

Milwaukee Police will be investigating. They add, the incident was not connected to the RNC.

TMJ4 spoke to two people who said they witnessed the shooting, which happened Tuesday afternoon on July 16.

14th and Vliet is near the secure zone of the Republican National Convention, but there is no reason to believe this incident is connected to events at the RNC, according to TMJ4.
