Aldean and his wife Brittany Kerr joined Trump in the MAGA friends and family box earlier Thursday evening, hours before Trump is scheduled to speak and accept the party's nomination .
The RNC has been underway in Milwaukee since Monday, and speakers including Trump's family, former aides and elected officials have used their time in the spotlight to praise Trump.
“President Trump’s a friend of mine so I want to send this next song out to him,” Aldean said in social media footage from the concert. "We all know what’s going to happen come November, so it’s all good. Just goes to show you there’s a lot of (expletive) in the world, and that’s kind of what this song right here was about, so this one goes out to the pres.”
The song and the music video, which showed recent protest footage, caused outrage as some said it was a "dog whistle" and "pro-lynching." Aldean has defended the video saying it does not reference race and the footage in the video are real news clips.
Aldean also called Trump a " warrior " on Instagram after the assassination attempt.
