CHICAGO – The Central National Association of Dance Masters announced this week a 1984 graduate of D.C. Everest Senior High School and former student of the Central Wisconsin School of Ballet will be honored with the 2024 Artistic Achievement Award.

This recognition will be presented to Melissa Anderson, a ballet artist and educator, at the Annual Awards Banquet on July 25 during the organization’s Summer Dance Workshops at the Hyatt Regency Chicago in Schaumburg, Illinois.

Anderson’s journey in the dance world has been nothing short of extraordinary. Her talent and dedication led her to perform principal roles with renowned companies, such as the Milwaukee Ballet, Ballet Teatro Municipal de San Juan, and the Orlando Ballet.

Since transitioning from the stage to the studio, Anderson has become an educator at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee Peck School of the Arts and Marquette University. She also mentors dancers across the Greater Milwaukee area and is a sought-after guest master teacher at national dance conventions.

An American Ballet Theatre Certified Teacher, Anderson is committed to fostering a kind and inclusive learning environment while preserving the integrity of classical ballet technique.

“We are incredibly proud to honor Melissa Anderson with the 2024 Artistic Achievement Award,” said Debbie Felton, MDE, CNADM president, in a news release. “Her contributions to the dance world as a performer, educator and mentor are immeasurable. She is a true inspiration to dancers of all ages.”

Anderson said she is honored to receive the award.

“Dance has been my lifelong passion, and to be recognized by my peers in this way is truly humbling,” she said. “I am grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to perform, teach and inspire others, and I look forward to continuing to make a positive impact on the dance community.”
