    Local organizations are providing students with the school necessities they need.

    Summer is coming to an end which means back-to-school festivities are about to begin.

    Local organizations across Milwaukee are host events for families to assist in a smooth transition into the new school year.

    Here's a list of back-to-school events in Milwaukee.

    Join Holy Hill COGIC for its back-to-school praise in the parking lot

    When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 3 at 2823 W. Fond du Lac. Ave.

    Vendors: Styled by Bai, Blings & Thingz, Smell My Wic

    Activities: Children can make bracelets, ride horses, meet the Milwaukee Fire Department and receive a free hairstyle from a license barber or cosmetologist.

    The City of Milwaukee Health Department is expected to have its 23rd annual back-to-school health fair

    When: Students can receive free health screenings, immunizations, and school supplies from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10 at the Milwaukee Academy of Science, 2000 W. Kilbourn Ave.

    Vendors: Food truck vendors include KT's Wok, I'll Take a Bite Out of That, MPD ice cream truck and Twisted Greens.

    Activities: Face painting, music, chalk art and skating

    Via Community Development Corp. will partner with the Salvation Army to distribute 60 backpacks for south side residents.

    When: The distribution is from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 3524 W. National Ave.

    Who: This event is for residents living in the Silver City, Layton Park, Burnham Park and Clark Square neighborhoods.

    Join Gerald L. Ignace Indian Health Center for its back-to-school bash

    When: The bash is from 1 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22 at 930 W. Historic Mitchell St.

    Who: The event is open to Native households only.

    Requirements: Upon arrival you must present a tribal I.D. or proof of descendancy, proof of the child's 2024 to 2025 school registration and parent or guardian must show their state I.D.

    Activities: Face painting, balloon twists, yard games and a meal will be served

    An annual back-to-school block party will be hosted by Marquette Athletics

    When: The block party is from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 1250 W. Wisconsin Ave.

    Admission: Tickets are $5 for children under 12 and $10 for individuals 13 and up.

    Parking: To park in the 16th Street Parking Structure located at 749 N. 16th Street and the Wells Street Parking Structure located at 1240 W. Wells St., it's $10.

    Activities: Children's games, food trucks and a special appearance from Marquette basketball coaches Shaka Smart and Cara Consuegra.
