The Atlanta Braves dropped their third straight game in Truist Park, losing 10-0 to the Milwaukee Brewers to start the series on Tuesday night.

After the Braves took two of three in this matchup last week, the Brewers came in and took advantage of a scuffling team. With the loss, Atlanta falls to 60-52 on the season, while Milwaukee improves to 63-49. With a Philadelphia Phillies loss, the Braves remain 6.0 games back in the NL East – only one game above the New York Mets.

Here are some key takeaways from the contest:

Braves scoreless streak is getting ridiculous

The Braves haven't scored a run since the third inning on Saturday, meaning their scoreless streak is now at 25 innings.

Atlanta got outhit 16-6 on Tuesday night and have been outscored 17-0 over the past two nights. Their one bright spot was Matt Olson, who notched two doubles and was the only Brave with a multi-hit game at 2-for-4.

Brewers starter Colin Rea mowed down Atlanta bats, going 7.0 shutout frames with nine Ks before Joe Ross finished the game with a pair of scoreless innings.

Brewers get best of Elder this time

Elder came into the night with three quality starts in three appearances versus the Brewers, including 6.1 innings of one-run ball last time out. It was a much different result tonight.

The sinkerballer simply left too many balls up in the zone tonight, and he paid for it. He allowed seven runs on eight hits in 3.2 IP. His command just wasn't on – he walked two and struck out six on 85 pitches. He surrendered seven hard-hit balls, and three of four batters recorded hard-hit balls in the first inning, including the first of two homers by Willy Adames.

On Monday, Elder was called up when Reynaldo López went to the injured list with forearm tightness. While manager Brian Snitker expects López to return as soon as he's eligible on August 18, he'll still miss at least one more start. It won't be Elder making that start after tonight.

The Braves entered the night with six starters in the rotation: Max Fried, Chris Sale, Charlie Morton, Spencer Schwellenbach, Grant Holmes and Elder, but it will down to five after tonight, at least until López returns.

Wild Bill goes wild, Adames bombs drown Braves

Braves utility man Luke Williams ended the night on the mound, and that tells you about all you need to know.

Former Atlanta catcher, William "Wild Bill" Contreras, opened the scoring with an RBI triple in the first inning. Two pitches later, Brewers shortstop Adames took an Elder sinker that floated over the heart of the plate 426 feet to center field to make it 3-0 before the Braves could blink.

Contreras proceeded to hit two doubles and walk in a 3-for-4 performance, while Adames drove him in again in the third inning on another homer in the midst of a 4-for-5 night. That gives Adames three homers in four games this season against the Braves. On the other hand, Contreras went 0-for-7 in last week's series with the Braves, but like his team, he got payback tonight.

    On to game two

With two games remaining, the Braves can still repeat the result of the series in Milwaukee. Atlanta got beat 8-3 in that series opener but still won the final two games of the series.

After Elder struggled in a spot start tonight, Chris Sale will look to stop the bleeding and get the Braves back in the win column against Freddy Peralta in game two with the Brewers tomorrow at 7:20 p.m. EST.
