The Come Back Girls of Riverside Rally in the Seventh to Capture 6-5 Win Over #12 Griswold
(Oakland, IA) – There was no other softball game in the southwest Iowa region that compared to the final matchup between Riverside and #12 Griswold on Wednesday evening. The Bulldogs were able to come back in the seventh inning after being down 5-3 and were able to rally for their 6-5 final win of the regular season.
Chargers Softball Taking on Treynor Cardinals Tonight
The AC/GC Chargers softball team is in action tonight. The 11-12 Chargers head to Treynor to take on the 14-10 Cardinals. Emerson Van Meter is the most likely to take the mound for AC/GC, while Treynor will most likely have Delaney Mathews or Jadyn Huisman on the mound. Reagan Carney leads in the hitting statistics for the Chargers, with Mersadez Richter and Van Meter close behind. For the Cardinals, Mathews is the leader in the hitting categories. This is the first time the teams have played against each other, so the game should be interesting to watch. First pitch is at 7:30pm.

Missouri Valley baseball meshing young talent with senior leadership
(Missouri Valley) -- A lineup of three seniors and six underclassmen has made up the 2024 Missouri Valley baseball squad. The Big Reds have combined their experienced trio and youthful talent to post an 8-13 record with one regular-season game remaining. Westphalia Native and Husker Pitcher Brett Sears Named Academic All-American
(Lincoln, NE) – Local Southwest Iowa Native, Brett Sears, has been named a second-team Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators. This honor for the Westphalia, Iowa native marks the first for a Husker baseball player since 2016 and he is also the first Husker to be named an All-American and Academic All-American in the same season since Aaron Mardsen back in 2003. Sears was one of the top pitchers in the nation and was one of the best students in the classroom with a 3.65 GPA with a degree in child, youth, and family studies in May.
