Counselors available to students at Claymont High School Tuesday
UHRICHSVILLE (WJER) (July 15, 2024) – The Claymont City School District is making counselors available to students Tuesday following the death of a 15-year-old student. Grant Haney of Uhrichsville died on July 8, according to an obituary shared by R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home. It described him as courageous and resilient in facing cystic fibrosis, and as someone who found happiness in the great outdoors and touched the hearts of all who knew him.

Applications Due for Dress-a-Child
Time is running out for income-eligible parents to get their kids in the dress-a-child program for school clothes ahead of the fall. Tuesday, July 14th is the deadline to return applications to either the Dover Public Library or the Tuscarawas County Public Library in New Philadelphia. Applications are still available at those two sites.
CHS history now ‘in the books’
Thanks to a local historian, the 154-year history of Carrollton High School is, as they say, “in the books.”. It’s literally “in the books” thanks to Ronald J. (Ron) Colaprete, who recently finished and published a 400-plus page book that chronicles the history of the school back to its opening date on Nov. 15, 1869.
Carrollton hosts Malvern, Southern Local, New Phila
Carrollton, Malvern, Southern Local and New Philadelphia high school football teams converged on Community Field in Carrollton for 7-on-7 play July 11. The Ohio High School Athletic Association announced in April football 7-on-7 competition will now be permitted at any time prior to and after the season, other than the 28-day no-contact period immediately after the season. Previously, 7-on-7 competition was not permitted until May 15. Full practice and hitting are still not permitted during 7-on-7 play,
