Video surfaces of J.J. McCarthy throwing passes to former Vikings WR

The Minnesota Vikings selected quarterback J.J. McCarthy at 10th overall in hopes that he would be the franchise quarterback they have craved since Fran Tarkenton. Based on early indications, the Vikings may have found their guy.

McCarthy has been doing all of the right things. From getting his fiancee to help him learn the playbook to spending his summer break at the team facility, things look very promising. The arm talent has popped off during practice but he still has a ways to go.

The off-the-field work is going well and he is finding NFL wide receivers to throw to. Former Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen posted a video to his Instagram where he caught passes from McCarthy.

This is great to see from McCarthy. Throwing to all kinds of receivers in the National Football League will help him figure out how deep certain routes are supposed to be thrown. Playing quarterback requires a certain level of nuance to hit receivers in stride through different coverages.

It's great that McCarthy is throwing to Thielen, as the team knows him and he has experience in the offense that Kevin O'Connell runs. Hopefully, we get some videos of McCarthy throwing to Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison soon.
