Jonathan Weinhagen has resigned as CEO of the Minneapolis Regional Chamber, the organization said in an email.

Why it matters: Weinhagen has been a voice for business at both the Minnesota Capitol and Minneapolis City Hall for nearly eight years.

Between the lines: The Chamber said Weinhagen resigned Thursday morning, but by 11:30am it had already announced his interim replacement: John Stanoch, a former Hennepin County judge and telecom executive.

What he's saying: Weinhagen, who did not respond to a call and text message from Axios, wrote in a Facebook post that he decided to leave the position to "move on to new adventures."

    • "I'll have more to say about what's next for me professionally in the coming days and weeks," he added.

Context: Prior to leading the Minneapolis Chamber, Weinhagen worked for the St. Paul Area Chamber.

    • He is also a school board member in Mounds View.

Editor's note: This story has been updated to include a comment from Weinhagen.
