Key Vikings’ Playmaker Sends Major Warning To NFL For 2024

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison enjoyed a very impressive rookie campaign, but the youngster is ready for even bigger things in 2024.

“(I’ve) taken my game to the next level in one year,” Addison said, via ESPN’s Kevin Seifert.

Addison said that last season, he wasn’t great at getting a good jump off the line of scrimmage and had to improvise a bit. But now, he has improved in that area.

“Last year I wasn’t as confident in my releases,” Addison said. “I wasn’t being decisive. I didn’t have a plan when I was coming up to the line. I was just freelancing trying to make something work.”

That still didn’t stop Addison from hauling in 70 receptions for 931 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The 22-year-old, who played his collegiate football at USC, was selected by the Vikings with the 23rd pick of the NFL Draft last spring.

He put together a pair of 100-yard performances during his debut season, adding a couple of touchdown grabs in each of those outings.

Addison’s best showing of 2023 came in a Week 7 win over the San Francisco 49ers, when he logged seven catches for 123 yards and two scores.

How will the Vikings’ offense look in 2024?

The Vikings’ offense will look quite a bit different this season.

Last year, Minnesota began the campaign with Kirk Cousins under center, and had him for about half the season until he tore his Achilles in Week 8.

The Vikings then employed three different starting quarterbacks the rest of the year, none of which inspired much confidence.

Minnesota allowed Cousins to walk via free agency this past March, and the franchise then proceeded to select J.J. McCarthy with the 10th overall pick of the NFL Draft.

In addition, the Vikings signed Sam Darnold, so while McCarthy is the club’s first-round draft choice, there seems to be a good chance that Darnold will begin 2024 as the starter.

This obviously creates a very different situation for Addison and the rest of Minnesota’s receivers, including superstar Justin Jefferson.

As terrific as the duo of Jefferson and Addison may be, a lot of their success will depend on the Vikings’ quarterback play, and right now, that is certainly a huge question mark.

We’ll see how Minnesota adjusts, especially in the rugged NFC North.
