The wide receiver position is a historically great one for the Minnesota Vikings . From Gene Washington and Ahmad Rashad to Randy Moss and Cris Carter, there have been historically great receivers to wear the purple and gold.

That tradition continues today as the Vikings have the National Football League's best wide receiver in Justin Jefferson along with an emerging star in Jordan Addison. Even with the NFL's top receiver, the position group as a whole doesn't always get the most love.

ESPN's Mike Clay projected out every player and ranked the position groups. He viewed the Vikings wide receivers highly, placing them ninth in the NFL.

That is a pretty fair rating for the position group who doesn't have much depth at all after Jefferson and Addison. Sure, there are some intriguing talents in Jalen Nailor and Brandon Powell, but nobody has proven they can be a WR3 in the NFL yet.

There isn't a team ahead of them that is insulting to the Vikings either. Sure, the Chicago Bears wide receiver room isn't elite but it does have three really good players. Same with the Tennessee Titans.

If the Vikings can find a way to get a talented third wide receiver, watch out.
