New sports bar in Uptown Minneapolis opens its doors

The space in Uptown Minneapolis that used to house Fool Me Once, which closed abruptly in April , is now a sports bar that opened its doors Tuesday.

    Beckett's is now welcoming a sports-loving public to a very sports-themed bar.

But while other local hubs that focus on Minnesota sports (or women's sports or the Chicago Bears ), Beckett's decor is simply about sports at large.

"We love sports, we love pop culture, and we love movies," the restaurant's recently launched site says. A menu isn't available and representatives for the restaurant did not respond to a request for comment, but the site promises Beckett's will have food, including burgers.

Its ceiling is covered in pennants from teams across the country with no particular focus on a single sport. That aerial decor, the bar says on Instagram, was the result of finding "so much cool stuff" for Beckett's that they turned to the ceiling for extra wall space.

Other decor shows a playful focus on sports with a Hulk Hogan action figure acting as a bookend to a row of sports movies on VHS, soccer trophies, a Timberwolves-themed Barbie, loads of posters, and a football-shaped landline phone.

    Beckett's at 3006 Lyndale Ave. S opens at 2 p.m. daily.
